ADHD Crafter

I love learning a new craft! I love going in head first, not having any fear of messing something up just to see what I can learn. I believe that you learn so much more from your failures and I’ve had some pretty great failures. Here’s a couple of my crafts that I enjoyed learning from.

Working with Wood

Making functional art

This charcuterie board I made for my sister is made with Purple Heart, Zebrawood and Walnut. The waterfall edge around the corners was tricky, but I’m happy with how they turned out.

I made this plaque in memorial of my sister dog that passed away. Using a picture of him, I was able to create an SVG file that I took to the laser and carved a relief into the walnut slab. I then cut different types of wood veneer and glued it into the the relief.

This live edge Walnut slab coffee table was my first attempt at making furniture. The top was easy enough to sand and finish, but the bottom tier was tricky. The clips that support it had a weight limit so I carved out reliefs to reduce the weight but also organize.

Working with Resin

Making lasting art

This fox was made by pouring several different layers of resin. Once cured, I used a Dremel to carve a relief and fill in with a syringe filled with red resin. After that cured I did another clear coat on top of it all. I think It turn out pretty cool.

I first had to wash the beans of any oil that might cause issues down the line. After fully drying them, I use deep pour epoxy and a pressure pot to ensure there were no air bubbles. Then I used a bandsaw to cut the knife scales and followed by a whole lot of sanding.

I used a custom silicone mold I made to create these resin cats. After doing an acrylic pour, I mounted this cat on top and did a flood of top coat to seal it all together.

Working with Stained Glass

Making beautiful art

This was a fun challenge because I never saw something like it, but I wanted to have the bee on top of the honeycomb.

This was pretty straight forward, but was challenging with those inside cuts.

This was cut out using a waterjet laser and soldered together by some students.

Exploring Hydro-dipping

Making unique art

This was a mini folding screen I cut on the laser cutter. I used masking tape to keep the tree white for contrast.

I also laser cut this guy and dipped each piece individually. I really like how this turned out.

With the success of masking the tree, I purchase these shoes knowing I would mask off parts to highlight the cool color effect.
